With increasing awareness of soft tissue injury by veterinarians specializing in canine sports medicine, orthopedics and rehabilitation, diagnostic ultrasound has become very popular in this field.

This 2 day Wet-lab Course on Orthopedic Ultrasound introduces & refines the latest musculoskeletal ultrasound techniques and applications. The course focuses on relevant ultrasound anatomy and standardized scanning protocols for common indications and procedures relevant in everyday clinical practice. Diagnostic performance and recognition of pathologies will be elucidated.

Topics:

Shoulder (including impingement syndrome)
Knee (cruciate and menisci)
Achille’s tendon
Gracilis
Gastrocnemius
Iliopsoas
Other musculotendinopathies
Joint
Tendon
Muscle pathologies

The course features contemporary equipment provided by industry partners so that course participants can practice on the most technologically advanced portable ultrasound machines. Hands-on scanning will be conducted in small groups by the lecture faculty and additional workshop instructors.

The faculty of this course is Dr. Nele Eley (Ondreka), DiplECVDI head of Department of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Giessen, Germany – a pillar of orthopedic ultrasound since the 80ies. Dr. Nele Eley is the driving force behind musculoskeletal imaging at the Veterinary University in Giessen and has held multiple seminars and lectures on this subject throughout Europe and recently offered educational training in North America as well.

This course is appropriate for clinical Sonographers, Radiologists and Orthopedic Surgeons.
